Doubt is the most harmful weapon to use for self infliction.
Our words and our thoughts if questioned, are better done as if an impartial inquiry.
As children we knew what scolding was. Sometimes the scolding was wrong. Sometimes, we were wrongly scolded bc we didn't deserve it. There is also a better way of scolding which asks what was our part in the accusation. If asked with respect and compassion- it will be responded with the correct goal. This is a very valuable communication skill. Even when talking to ourselves.
If faced with doubt, over an action or result that left us with guilt, each experience brings a mature mind. If we talk to ourselves as a way of a parent to child, speak from both sides, in a way we wish had been done to ourselves as a child. We retrain the Mind and how it works. We right a great wrong, which over the years, caused us to loose confidence in ourselves. Made us doubt ourselves. I see it as a gift of self-compassion. We create change from this. We see more possibilities open for us.
I got tired of the old critical thinking long ago. And I share that freedom, with others. Sometimes... when I do, I see a familiar thought crossing their face. I can remember the inner feelings that came with being velieved. It's nice to know, someone truly sees you and they are remembering other times, when chastizement left them feeling ' hollow '.
Now comes the challenge- How many are able to do the same thing for themself, from this moment on?
